Signs Your Online Presence Is Working (Even When It Doesn't Feel Like It)

You've been posting. You've been showing up. But the likes are low, the comments are quiet, and you're starting to wonder if any of this is actually doing anything.

Here's what I want you to know: the numbers you can see are not the full picture.

Social media success isn't always loud. Sometimes it's working in ways you can't track with a quick glance at your insights.

Signs your online presence is working (that you might be ignoring):

  1. People mention seeing your posts. Someone says, "I saw your thing on Facebook" or "I've been following along." That's brand awareness. That's staying top of mind. That matters.

  2. You're getting DMs from people you don't know. Even if it's just a question or a "hey, I love your page," that's someone who found you, connected with your content, and reached out. That's huge.

  3. Your website is getting visits. Check your analytics. If people are clicking through from your social media to your site, your content is doing its job.

  4. You're getting saves. Saves don't show up publicly, but they mean someone thought your content was worth coming back to. That's one of the strongest engagement signals there is.

  5. Inquiries are coming in. Even if it's slow, if people are reaching out about your services, your online presence is building trust.

Why it feels like nothing is happening:

We've been trained to measure success by likes and follower counts. But those metrics don't pay your bills. What matters is whether the right people are finding you, trusting you, and eventually reaching out.

That takes time. And it often happens quietly.

What to do when you're in the "in-between":

  • Keep showing up. Consistency builds trust even when you can't see it yet.

  • Pay attention to the small signals. A DM, a comment, a "I found you on Facebook" moment.

  • Ask new clients how they found you. You might be surprised how often the answer is "I've been following you for a while."

Your content is working. It's just working behind the scenes. Don't quit right before it starts to pay off.
