The Only 3 Types of Posts Your Business Actually Needs
One of the biggest reasons small business owners struggle with social media is because they're overcomplicating it. They think they need a dozen content pillars, a posting schedule for every platform, and endless variety to keep people interested.
But here's what I've learned: you really only need three types of posts.
That's it. Three.
1. Posts That Build Trust
These are the posts that show who you are and why someone should listen to you. They might include:
Your story and why you started your business
Behind-the-scenes glimpses of your process
Client wins or testimonials
Lessons you've learned along the way
Trust posts help your audience feel like they know you. And people buy from people they trust.
2. Posts That Educate or Help
These are the posts where you share your expertise. Tips, how-tos, answers to common questions. The kind of content that makes someone think, "This is exactly what I needed to hear."
When you help people for free, they remember you when they're ready to pay.
3. Posts That Invite Action
These are your calls-to-action. They don't have to be pushy or salesy. They can be as simple as:
"DM me if you want to chat about this."
"Click the link in my bio to learn more."
"Here's how we can work together."
If you never invite people to take the next step, they won't know there is one.
How to Use These Three Types
You don't need to post all three every day. Think of it as a rotation. Maybe Monday is a trust post, Wednesday is educational, and Friday is a soft CTA.
Find a rhythm that works for you and stick with it. Simplicity beats complexity every time.
